Positions Available: Research Assistants and Postdoctoral Fellows (Open Until Filled)

I. Laboratory Overview

Dr. Xin Zhang is a Professor of Chemistry and Cell Biology at Westlake University. Our research group currently comprises 1 Associate Researcher, 2 Assistant Researchers, 2 Postdoctoral Fellows, 2 Administrative Assistants, 14 PhD students, and 1 Research Assistant.

The Zhang Laboratory focuses on the intersection of bioorganic chemistry and protein biochemistry, with "Chemistry of Biological Aggregates" as its research direction. We investigate the formation, properties, and functions of biological aggregates at the molecular level, conducting long-term basic and applied research across synthetic chemistry, cell biology, biochemistry, and chemical biology. Our current research directions include:

  • - Development of novel fluorescent molecular probes for new quantitative super-resolution imaging technologies

  • - Development of novel time-resolved fluorescent protein labeling to reveal complex interaction networks between proteins and organelles in living cells

  • - Quantitative imaging of biomolecular phase separation to elucidate structure-function relationships of membraneless organelles

  • - Chemical biology of RNA membraneless organelles to understand the relationship between RNA phase separation and physiological functions

  • - Development of chemical regulatory methods for membraneless organelles and creation of novel small-molecule therapeutics to mitigate protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases

Prof. Zhang's group is now seeking postdoctoral fellows and research assistants from both domestic and international talent pools. We also welcome outstanding students to apply for our PhD program.
